Daily Green Smoothie Recipe

START WITH THIS BASIC GREEN SMOOTHIE THEN CREATE YOUR OWN FAVORITE RECIPE

One of the simplest things you can do to help improve your health is to add a green smoothie to your daily routine. Packed full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber, a daily green smoothie will leave you feeling energized, healthy and glowing from the inside out. Healthy saturated fats from avocado and coconut oil will leave you feeling full and satisfied while providing optimal brain fuel and hormonal balance.

Here’s my basic green smoothie recipe that can be used as the foundation for many other smoothie recipes. Adjust any of the ingredients to your liking then add in berries, other fruits (bananas add some extra sweetness and creaminess but don’t go overboard since bananas add extra sugar) and even carrots, sweet potato, ground flax or chia seeds.

For the smoothie pictured here I added in a half cup of frozen blueberries and a few pieces of frozen banana.

Daily Green Smoothie

– 1 cup of frozen kale or spinach
– 1 green apple, chopped
– half of an avocado
– 1 scoop of powdered greens (Amazing Grass, etc)
– 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
– a few drops of liquid stevia drops to taste (depending on how sweet you like your smoothie)
– 8 ounces of cold, filtered water
– 1 cup of ice
– optional, add a half cup of berries for added nutrients and flavor

Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender (Vitamix, Blendtec, Nutribullet, etc) and blend until smooth and creamy. Add more water and ice as needed to achieve desired consistency.
